Another leading ensemble under the auspices of the National Forum of Music (NFM) is the LutosAir Quintet. This ensemble comprises five wind players from the NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic and is widely acclaimed in both Poland and internationally.
Named after the Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, the quintet has several CDs to its name. Among these releases is an album in the Opera Omnia series dedicated to Lutosławski and 5 [+ 2], a collection of works by contemporary Polish composers.
One of these composers is Nikolet Burzyńska, whose five-movement work The Oak Crown plays a central role in the programme of Polish composers that the LutosAir Quintet will perform at DE SINGEL. This concert sheds light on contemporary Polish composition and the wind quintet’s international position.
